A Program for Emerging Leaders


Leadership growth and development requires collaboration between you and KP to ensure active engagement and sustainability. As an emerging KP leader, you may be looking for ways to build and expand your skill set. genKP collaborated with Learning and Development and Workforce Planning to design the Emerging Leaders Circle program.

The program consists of a series of classes intended to provide emerging leaders with interpersonal, project management, business and leadership skills.

Begin to observe and foster strengths in others

Communicate more effectively in different ways

Build general business acumen

Practice leading and working with others in groups

Levels

There are 4 levels of completion to achieve, each of which contain education, exposure, and/or experience requirements. Each level builds upon the prior one and therefore you must start with the Bronze level and work your way up.

  • 5 KP Learn courses
  • 1 genKP networking event
  • 1 genKP innovation & technology event
  • Volunteer at 1 genKP community benefit event
  • Develop a genKP mentoring profile and make a connection with a KP mentor
  • 10 KP Learn courses
  • 3 Ted Talks including a synopsis on one
  • 1 KP Learning Forum session
  • Volunteer at any 1 genKP activity or event
  • Work with a mentor to develop a list of your strengths and opportunities for development (at least 3 of each)
  • Complete a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC)
  • Review 6 business cases on KP Learn
  • Conduct an Informational Interview with a KP leader
  • Develop a stretch assignment proposal relevant to any KP organizational goal/need
  • Mentor another genKP member for at least 6 weeks
  • Work with a mentor to implement your Gold level stretch assignment goals and document the impact you made in 6 months time frame
  • Mentor another genKP member for at least 8 weeks

This will vary by individual. There is no time stamp on completing each level, though we recommend you try to complete one level in 6-12 months. All learning is self-directed, so you can move at your own pace.

You will need to submit a completion form so the genKP leadership team can verify that you’ve completed the requirements. Once verified, you will receive a certificate of completion and be recognized in our genKP newsletter.

No big deal! You can still continue the curriculum the following year.

Yes, your manager must approve a $35 annual recharge to their department cost center. This recharge covers unlimited usage of the Skillsoft courses on KP Learn for the calendar year. If you are a represented employee, you may be able to leverage 1 of 2 education funds to pay for your Skillsoft course access charges.
